3 Feet High and Rising 【VINTAGE】- De La Soul

1989年リリース、ヒップホップにおけるサンプリングの概念を拡張した De La Soul のデビューアルバム。プロデューサーの Prince Paul と共に作り上げられた本作は、後のオルタナティブ・ヒップホップの潮流を決定づけた歴史的作品です。

Johnny Cash、Hall & Oates、Steely Danといった多種多様なジャンルから引用されたサンプリング・コラージュと、スキットを多用した遊び心のある構成が特徴。彼らが掲げた「DAISY Age」というコンセプトに基づき、当時のシーンに新しい価値観を提示しました。

長年、サンプリング権利の問題でデジタル配信や再発が困難でしたが、2023年の権利解消を経て再び注目を集めています。サンプリングの自由度が最も高かった時代の熱量と、彼らの独創的なエディットが凝縮されたマスターピースです。

Ye (Kanye West) is an artist who consistently stirs controversy and drives constant change in the contemporary music scene. His latest solo project, *Bully*—which he describes as a “concept album” and was created during his stay in Tokyo beginning in 2024—is now available on cassette.

Departing from his recent large-scale collaborations with external artists, Ye took the lead on self-production throughout the entire album. As heard in the previously released tracks “Preacher Man” and “Beauty and the Beast,” the album centers on soulful sampling sources while featuring minimalist beat structures stripped of ornamentation. It stands as a high-purity musical document where raw vocals coexist with experimental loops.
