Cavalcade【TAPE】- Black Midi

プログレ/ポスト･パンク大国であるUKロック･シーンにおいて、デビュー･アルバム1枚でその最前線へと躍り出た、ウィンドミルの怪物こと Black Midi。Rough Trade から2021年リリースした傑作セカンド･アルバムを入荷いたしました。当時、創設メンバーでありギタリストの Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin（惜しくも’25年1月に死去）の活動休止を受けてトリオ編成に移行することを余儀なくされるも、それを契機に従来のジャム的な曲作りから転換し、サックスと鍵盤のサポートも迎える格好でバンドの表現を増幅させることに成功。ロックやジャズに留まらず、ヒップホップ/エレクトロニック/クラシック/アンビエント/プログレ/エクスペリメンタルなどの幅広い音楽性が緻密に融合した素晴らしいアルバムです。

Black Midi, the windmill monsters who burst onto the forefront of the UK rock scene, a powerhouse of progressive/post-punk, with just their debut album. We have received their masterpiece second album, released in 2021 by Rough Trade. At the time, they were forced to transition to a trio format after founding member and guitarist Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin (sadly passed away in January 2025) went on hiatus. However, this prompted them to shift away from their previous jam-style songwriting, and they successfully amplified the band's expression by welcoming saxophone and keyboard support. This is a wonderful album that meticulously fuses a wide range of musical styles, not limited to rock and jazz, but also including hip hop, electronic, classical, ambient, progressive, and experimental music.
