A long-lost masterpiece by Hiroshi Yoshimura—a pioneer of Japanese ambient music—is finally receiving an official reissue from Temporal Drift, a label affiliated with the West Coast's Light in the Attic! Although completed in 1987—following his seminal works *GREEN* (1986) and *SURROUND* (1986)—this album remained unreleased for nearly two decades. Based on a graphic score titled "FLORA" created by Yoshimura himself, the album explores themes of flowers, plants, and the surrounding natural world; he produced it entirely on his own through multi-tracking, utilizing instruments such as the Yamaha DX7 synthesizer and a sequencer. Unlike his previous works, which leaned heavily toward "functional music" designed not to intrude upon the spatial environment, this album brings melody to the forefront, unfolding a refreshing soundscape with a pop-inflected, sweet, and charming resonance. The release includes liner notes by Junichi Konuma, a professor at Waseda University's School of Humanities and Social Sciences and a renowned Japanese music and literary critic.
