Horizon【TAPE】- Scott Orr

This is the ninth album by singer-songwriter Scott Orr—founder of the Hamilton, Canada-based folk/pop label Other Songs—released in June 2023 via the Canadian lo-fi hip-hop label Inner Ocean Records. The concept of the "horizon"—described by the artist as something that can be discussed, pointed to, and seen, yet never touched or reached—serves as the central theme of the album. It acts as a perfect metaphor for those elements of life that remain unseen, yet hold the deepest significance: love, human relationships, passion, and death. The entire process—from songwriting and composition to recording and mixing—was completed in just ten days. Orr notes that he prioritized "capturing the spontaneity and improvisational energy of the moment a new song was born, rather than obsessing over the perfection of individual takes or sonic details." As a result, the tracks possess an organic, intimate, and raw quality.
