This is the second and final installment of the collection released by Death Is Not The End, comprehensively covering some of the earliest recorded music from West Africa—specifically Ghana. Like the first volume, this release features 26 digitally remastered tracks originally recorded on 78rpm discs between the late 1920s and the late 1950s. While the first volume focused on arrangements featuring just an acoustic guitar and simple percussion, this installment offers a richer ensemble sound and captures the dynamic, transitional band music that paved the way for the modern Highlife genre. It is a release of immense historical value, allowing listeners to deeply explore the evolution of West African music from local tavern performances into mainstream popular music.
