GENA stands for “God Energy, Naturally Amazing.” The duo, who freely traverse the genres of jazz, soul, hip-hop, and R\u0026amp;amp;B, created this album through a series of online sessions, crafting it as they reacted to each other’s sounds. Liv.e’s smoky, fluid vocals and rapping blend with the delicate yet powerful drumming of Karriem Riggins, known for his work with Common, Erykah Badu, The Roots, and Madlib. With contributions from Isaiah Sharkey, James Francies, and Telemakus, the album creates a unique sound where jazz improvisation melds with soul, R\u0026amp;B, and hip-hop.
