This stunning collection of recordings, focusing on the "begena," a large 10-stringed harp that forms part of the heritage of the Amhara people, who inhabit central and northern Ethiopia and have shaped the country's political and cultural dominance, has been reissued by the cutting-edge London label Death Is Not The End, which has unearthed treasured recordings from around the world. Recorded between 2002 and 2005 by musicologist Stéphanie Weisser and released in 2006 by the Swiss label VDE, this album reconstructs the precious recordings.
