Through The Glass, Dimly【TAPE】- Zac Colwell

A full-length album by New York-based multi-instrumentalist and jazz composer Zac Colwell has arrived, released via the renowned Calgary-based label, Inner Ocean Records. The record is deeply rooted in Colwell’s childhood memories of living in Austin, Texas, during the early 1990s, and reflects the musical influence of his father—a saxophonist who also worked as a mechanic. His formative experiences—exploring his father’s record collection and falling in love with jazz—serve as the foundation for the album’s pervasive, nostalgic atmosphere. Colwell performs nearly every instrument on the record, presenting 11 tracks that transcend the boundaries of traditional jazz; the music embraces a modern, accessible sound, blending elements of pop-jazz with a distinct lo-fi aesthetic.
