XL Middleton, a producer, rapper, and DJ based in Pasadena, California, is known as the "Evangelist of Modern Funk" and a symbol of the contemporary LA funk scene. We have stocked the first installment of a mixtape series focusing on Japanese city pop and boogie, released by his label MoFunk Records! This work recreates a DJ set from the party of the same name held in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, and is a J-City Pop-only mix consisting entirely of 80s Japanese city pop and boogie! The 70-minute mix has a smooth story structure that makes you feel like you're driving through the city at night, and it is a wonderfully comfortable mix with an urban, mellow, and dancefloor-conscious groove.
